Terrific Two!!

I can't believe Kylee is 2!! I thought her first year went by fast, but this year really flew! Unfortunately, Kylee's 2nd birthday wasn't the best day of the year for her. She had severe infections in both ears. She was, in the doctors words, "absolutely miserable" and had to get 2 shots!

Since Kylee wasn't feeling well, we spent most of her birthday and the several days following it being lazy at home. I felt bad that she wasn't feeling well but enjoyed spending some relaxing quality time with her. Between spouts of crying and fussiness, she was extra sweet. She was super cuddly and lovey dovey all week and would randomly walk up to me and tell me "Mommy I love you too!" Hearing that has to be the best thing ever! There's no doubt that she can be a handful and there are times she makes me want to pull my hair out, but those times are far out numbered by how often she makes me feel so full of pride and love that I could burst.

On the 2nd Day of Christmas...

Due to the blizzard, Santa delivered Kylee's presents a day late. Kylee didn't mind, and it was actually kind of nice to have Christmas spread out. When she woke up we opened her stocking in her room and talked about Santa while we waited for daddy to wake up. On our way to the living room, she excitedly talked about seeing what Santa brought. When we walked in and she saw her kitchen she gasped and exclaimed "Thank you daddy!" Go figure. She loves the kitchen and spent quite awhile playing with it before we could convince her to open anything else. We stayed in our pajamas all day and had a wonderful, relaxing day spending time together and playing with her new toys.

Christmas Day 2009

Christmas day we went to grandpa's house for lunch. After we ate Kylee handed out the ornaments she made and gave Tony and grandpa their presents. She loved that! She didn't want to open her gifts (a vacuum and 2 outfits). Instead she wanted to play hide and seek.

Christmas evening we went to grandma's house to eat dinner and exchange gifts with grandma's side of the family. Again Kylee loved handing out gifts. She is such a cheerful giver! :) The first gift Kylee opened was books from grandma, including her all time favorite, Please Puppy Please. She used to have it in paperback but she read it so often that all the pages fell out a few months ago. Kylee was so excited to be reunited with her favorite book that she practically refused to open any more gifts. She read her book over and over all evening.

She also got Christmas pajamas, a singing Brobee doll, and a Little People Zoo from grandma, Little People treehouse from Aunt Patty and Uncle Mike, a dance cam from Aunt Michelle and Uncle Steven, an outfit (complete with hair bows and boots) and Wal-mart gift card from Stacey and Isaac, and a baby doll and some bubbles from the Grey family.

Christmas Eve Blizzard

For the first time that I can remember, we had a blizzard in Oklahoma! Christmas Eve morning we woke up to snow, 4o mph winds, and no electricity. Kylee slept in and by the time she woke up our house was a chilly 52 degrees. Luckily Aunt Patty's house didn't loose electricity. So, we braved the blizzard and escaped to her house for the day. There was so much wind and snow that it was almost impossible to see anything except white out the car windows. Power lines were down almost to the ground and there were abandoned cars (stuck in the snow) all over the streets. I was bummed that our traditional Christmas Eve festivities had to be postponed, but Kylee didn't know that there was anything to be missed. She seemed to a have a lot fun swimming in Aunt Patty's bath tub (which is at least as big as Kylee's pool) and playing with Campbell family dogs.
I didn't take any pictures, but here is one my friend Laura took near 82nd and Cache:

A Visit from Santa

Last week Vickie brought Santa to our house to give Kylee a few early Christmas gifts. Kylee was so excited when she saw them pull up in the driveway, but as soon as Santa walked in the house she was terrified. She screamed, cried, and clung to my neck. However, after opening a few gifts she got the courage to sit next to Santa. She was so excited after they left and talked about Santa bringing her a vacuum all afternoon. She also got a wooden flute and percussion toy, a monkey backpack, and a hello kitty helmet and knee pads.
