Fun with Charli
Charli hung out with us again this morning while her mom taught class. It was so nice to see friends again after being iced in, away from everyone all week. The girls had a lot of fun, and I got a little camera happy. What can I say? I guess two tots are twice as cute as one.

Iced In
The past couple days we've had some yucky winter weather. Yesterday it was so icy that all the local schools and daycares were closed. Of course that meant all our playdates were cancelled too. We weren't thrilled about being stuck home, but we tried to make the best of it. I got out some of Kylee's CDs that we hadn't listened to in awhile, and we spent most the morning standing at the backdoor watching the ice fall down and the birds fly around while listening to music in our PJs. There were all sorts of birds flying in, out, and around the yard. It made for quite the show. Kylee and I were very amused.

Since Kylee loves broccoli and loves cheese, I decided to combine the two and try out a new Broccoli Cheese soup recipe for lunch. Cold weather always puts me in the mood for soup. Kylee provided the dinner music while I cooked.
Kylee loved the soup and did an awesome job feeding herself with a spoon. She must have had fun doing so, because she had a death grip on her spoon and refused to put it down. I ended up carrying her to bathroom and rinsing both her and her spoon off in the sink. She held onto the spoon for quite some time before eventually depositing it into her treasure box (diaper wipe box previously mentioned).![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOSH6VAbNoFJ9iO5yKl-33gR9hooq1IoDh0stXutFySWNczAxywf0pkmmSoGpLfRGSA09xPetgnq-YJZaJi-2OMiQWhvffTkumm-Z242-p-6vO1WZMOxh99vp7Y2ItJBWxZAhLOJ3c0pJi/s320/DSCF3676.JPG)

Kylee's Secret Stash
A few days ago, Kylee walked up to me and grabbed my ring finger. I looked down and noticed that the anniversary wrap had snapped off my wedding ring. I snapped it back on and didn't think much more about it until the next morning when I woke up and noticed it was gone. I looked everywhere for it and have been worried that maybe it went down the drain sometime while I was washing my hands. Anyways.... a few minutes ago while I was picking up Kylees toys, I found an empty diaper wipe box that used to have some of Kylee's Little People animals in it. The animals had been dumped out into her toy box, and inside the diaper wipe box was a highlighter (Kylee loves markers), an outlet plug (she's oddly obsessed with those), and - sure enough - my anniversary band! I hardly ever leave Kylee in a room alone, and when I do, its for no more than a minute or two. So, I have no idea how or when she managed to collect these treasures. Sneaky! Sneaky! Oh well... I'm a little worried about my apparent lack of supervisory skills but also relieved to have found my band and glad that Kylee decided to stash it instead of eat it.

Nose to Toes
For the past month or so Kylee has been really excited about eyes and noses. She loves to point out eyes and noses in books, on people, and on her stuffed animals. What I didn't realize until this evening is that she can actually point to quite a few body parts. I was so impressed that I grabbed my camera and took a quick video even though Kylee was exhausted, practically naked, and covered in golash (We had just finished dinner and were on our way to the bath). I didn't video her pointing to all 8 (eyes, nose, mouth, tongue, head, hand, toes, and belly button), but here's what what I did get....

Friends!
Today Kylee's playgroup friend, Charli, hung out with us for a little bit while her mom taught a class at Cameron. The three of us had a great time! I'm surprised how much the girls actually interact. They babbled back and forth, shared toys (sometimes willingly, sometimes with a little encouragement), and even took turns chasing and "getting" each other. Before Charli and Rikki left, Kylee told Charli "bye" at least six times, and Charli gave her a couple hugs and a goodbye kiss. Too cute!

Checking in with the Doc
This morning we took Kylee in for her 12 month check up and shots. She weights 18 lbs 7 ozs (exactly 13 lbs more than when she was born). I didn't ask about her height, because the nurse usually gives me a sticker with her height and weight on it when we leave. Unfortunetly, no sticker this time! I'm bummed (I like to keep them for her scrapbook). Anyways, the bad news is our little munchkin is still too small to switch to a front facing car seat. The good news is Dr. Legako said she is very smart and is right on track with both her growth and development. Of course we already knew that, but its still nice to hear the dr make it offical. :)

The Great Outdoors
Thursday and Friday were gorgeous days! We decided to take advantage of the awesome weather and spent a good deal of time outside. Thursday we picked up Auntie Vickie on the way home from playgroup. After lunch, the three of us took a walk to the park around the corner. Kylee had the best time swinging and going down the slide with Auntie Vickie. Friday we spent the day going for walks and blowing bubbles on the porch. Kylee LOVES bubbles (which she can say and sign)! I wish the weather was always this nice. We can't wait for spring! ![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsuFuinedEgFFj4OUbK9k8uch1njzjXjLD4DtZywLue7w4ha_QTIR8-MVDCNaSZj97e5BhdZUan4yWltGB8ugDFTosK3mYzbGxY7WIwbWQuKM7NlhFa089quqN7ADAPeTc38504qMtJbtL/s320/park2.JPG)
Today the cold winter weather was back (41 degrees this afternoon!), but we couldn't resist playing outside for a little while anyways.

Sooner Born & Sooner Bred
Thursday Oklahoma played Florida for the national championship. Kylee was dressed for the occasion in her personalized OU romper from Uncle Steven. The sooners didn't win, but that's ok. We're proud of our boys just for it making there. Boomer!!!

Kyleepalooza
Saturday was Kylee's big day - her 1st birthday party. That morning was crazy. It was one of those mornings that make you wish you could get back in bed and start again. Among other things... Kylee's nap schedule was all off, the pump for the ball pit broke, the birthday banner vanished into thin air, and the dogs ran away. I was in a total state of panic for awhile and worried that the party (if we even made it to the Recplex to have one) would be a complete disaster. Thankfully, everything turned out OK in the end. The dogs eventually came home on their own (after about an hour of us looking for them!). Kylee finally took a short nap, and daddy and grandma rushed to get the party set up just in the nick of time. Needless to say, the party wasn't exactly as I had imagined, but the important thing is everyone, including Kylee, seemed to have a good time.

The ball pit was definitely a big hit; so were the chicken nuggets. The cake was AMAZING! Auntie Vickie and Danielle did an incredible job.
The big cake smash ended up being more of a cake poke. Kylee poked at the icing a couple times, picked off a few of the decorations, and then pretty much lost interest in the cake all together. She decided to wait until we got into the car and she saw the cake on my lap before she tried to dig in.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ6wj9KgQpq4FgexsxscWgdwcPMh2h_1pWJUJU-lCQVAwG1aGxjZuslwSD7SW5flhojfdKCt2OlxkQ9KGixQOzCWcD9LEcK2_fr_sMmgzVsr46pA55nzoKYvnqc4CvUOWyaqrSAc0RWUAY/s320/cake.JPG)

I think Kylee's favorite part of the day was hanging out with her beau, Ethan. Ethan's awesome parents stayed and helped clean up after the party. While everyone else was cleaning, Ethan and Kylee had a blast giving each other kisses and playing with her car.
